Introduction

Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is another name for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek.This Base Camp itself has a height of 4.130 metres.The total length of Annapurna Base Camp is 67 km.This journey will give you the beauty of the  mountains which is the most significant reason for choosing this trek.Here you will get to see a number of different mountain ranges which hold their own scenic beauty.In the Annapurna base camp trek there are thick forest regions which simply blow your mind with its beauty.

From March to May and from October and November are the most popular for trekking at Annapurna. It takes around 9 days to complete.

What is the difficulty:

The average trek in this region is not so difficult, still you should be moderately fit.After all,you are still trekking through the Himalayas.

 

What you need to pack for Annapurna Base Camp trek:

  1. Headlamp/Torch/Flashlight
  2. First-aid kit
  3. Woollen socks
  4. Trekking Shoes
  5. Sanitizer
  6. UV protection sunglasses
  7. Dry foods.
  8. Balaclava or sun cap
  9. Poncho or Raincoat 
  10. Gloves; woollen & waterproof
  11. Sunscreen

How to reach Pokhara:

By Air- 

One can take a direct flight from New Delhi or other cities of India to Kathmandu. After that you can fly to Pokhara directly from Kathmandu.

By Road- 

From Sunauli and from Kathmandu you can take a bus.Local buses are available at the New Bus Stand which is in Kathmandu. Luxury tourist buses like the Greenline are available at the Tourist Bus Station.

 

Trekkers Information Management System(TIMS):

The cost is NRS 2000 per person which equals about 15 EUR or 17 USD.This permit is important for every hiker who is wishing to hike in Nepal. 

Annapurna Conservation Area Permit(ACAP):

While entering the Annapurna Conservation Area trekkers will need a permit.This all permits are arranged by your trekking provider.This is not the most expensive trek in Nepal.

Day 1

On the first day you need to fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara which will save some time.

After reaching Pokhra.You can stay here overnight.

Day 2

You will start with a short bus to Nayapul from where the trekking begins.Your first trek will be downhill to Birethanti by crossing the bridge built over the Burundi River.Here you will need to sign formalities with the authorities. 

Following this route the trek starts to climb upwards towards Ghandruk via Chane.Trek to Ghandruk is originally flat along the Modi River.Spend overnight at a lodge in Ghandruk.

Day 3

You will leave the village of Ghandruk.You need to trek towards Sinuwa.The long trek first goes along the Modi River.Here you will be crossing several boulders before coming to a bridge on  the Kimrong River.From here the trail becomes steep till you reach Gurung Village by crossing Jhinu Danda.Here you will cross a bridge over the Chhomrong River..After reaching Sinuwa you need to stay here overnight.

Day 4

Day 4 will start from Sinuwa to Deurali.At first you need to start from Sinuwa to Kuldhigar.

At this point a stone staircase will lead you Dobhan through a bridge crossing.One the trail you can experience rhododendron, Oak forest and bamboo forest.After hiking through the valley to  Hinku Cave and  Himalaya you will be reaching your destination, Deurali.You need to stay overnight at a lodge in Deurali.

Day 5

On this day you will begin the final stretch towards the Annapurna Base Camp.

A walk along the River Modi will bring us to Bagar which is the starting point of the trek to Machhapuchhre base camp.After spending some time at Machhapuchhre the trek will lead you to the Annapurna Sanctuary.

After trekking a little more you will reach the base camp of the South Annapurna. Here you will have 360-degree views of some of the highest mountains in the world around you.You need to stay overnight at a lodge in the Annapurna Base Camp.

Day 6

Spending some more time in the base camp again you will be retracing your steps to reach Bamboo via Bagar, Deurali and Dobhan.Here you can experience many waterfalls,temples,caves etc.You need to stay overnight at a lodge in Bamboo.

Day 7

You need to hike from Bamboo to Kuldhigar. After reaching Jhinu Danda.Stay here overnight.

Day 8

In the morning your day will begin  by crossing the bridge on the Modi River. Before arriving at Syauli Bazar you need to cross village settlements,forestsFrom here the trail becomes flat till Nayapul.Arriving at Nayapul bus will take you to Pokhara.You need to stay overnight at Pokhara.

 

Day 9

This morning you can check out from your accommodation or visit the local places here.You can shop for amazing artwork, lovely pashminas etc.
