A Complete Travel Guide to the Everest Base Camp Trek

Introduction

Everest base camp Trek is so difficult still every year more than 40,000 Plus trekkers visit Nepal. Altitude is the biggest challenge on this track. Acute mountain sickness (AMS) is a risk here.Your physical fitness plays an important role in this expedition. 

Here you can experience an Alpine forest which is simply breathtaking.

Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay became the first to climb the Summit of Mount Everest on 29th of May 1953.

There are mainly two reasons that you can visit Everest base camp in Nepal. One is Spring which is late March to May. In this time you will experience clear skies, the views are beautiful and temperatures are comfortable. Other one is autumn which is late September to November. The hottest month of the trail is May.When you will pass colourful prayer flags this will give you peace in mind.

If you are planning to take a local guide then it’s not compulsory.However a local guide can enrich your experience.There you can get many advantages if you hire a guide.

Accommodation:

Everest Base Camp teahouse accommodations in Nepal are clean,simple and comfortable.Rooms are well decorated. They have plastered walls and a single window, with  beds with foam mattress pads. Some have room heating which gives you a well cosy night.Most places offer cold showers but Some offer hot showers.

Trek trail:

First Day:

On the first day you’ll arrive in Kathmandu and explore the scenery, and history of the city.

Second Day:

On this day you’ll visit three UNESCO World Heritage Sites.First one is Boudhanath which is one of the largest stupas in Nepal. The next one is Pashupatinath, a  Hindu temple located on the banks of the Bagmati River.At last you’ll visit Durbar Square.Here your day 2 will end.

 

Third Day:

After a flight to Lukla, it’s a pleasant hike through pine forests and swinging suspension bridges. It’s  the lushest part of the trail, with wildflowers and riverways, more Alps than Himalaya.

Fourth Day:

Namche Bazaar-Namche is located on the slope of an arch-shaped mountain.Here you will get a stunning view of the jagged Mount Khumbu Yül-Lha (Khumbila), loosely translated as “God of Khumbu” peak, to the north.You need to stay overnight at here.

Fifth Day:

This is your first official adaptation day.The best way to prepare yourself is to hike high during the day and return to lower altitudes in the evening.

Sixth Day:

Namche Bazaar to Tengboche- This is your first steps on the Everest Base Camp Trek.Here you will experience dence rhododendron forest.where you’ll stay for the evening.In tengboche you can climb up to see the famous Tengboche Monastery.This is known to be the Largest Buddhist Monastery of the Khumbu region.

Seventh Day:

Tengboche to Dingboche-  In the day, the trail wiggles across the sides of Ama Dablam peak and you’ll get to appreciate Mount Everest.After reaching Dingboche you need to stay here overnight.

Eighth Day:

Dingboche- Here one can  experience Chukhung, a place traditionally used to raise yak. This is your second acclimatisation day.You will experience the beautiful rhododendron forests, colourful birds and spectacular mountain scenery.

Ninth Day:

Dingboche to Lobuche- The flat trail till Dughla offers some of the best views of the Mount Everest base camp trekking expedition.Here you can get a chance to see Taboche (6,542m),  Ama Dablam (6,856m),Cholatse (6,440m), and Lhotse (8,516m).

Now you are so close to Everest Base Camp.On this day one can also experience the extraordinary view of Mt. Everest.You need to stay overnight at the lodge of Lobuche.

Tenth Day:

Arriving At Everest Base Camp- This is the final chapter of your journey.Here you will experience colourful prayer flags, large valley, snow peaks and beautiful Khumbu Glacier Icefall which will give you a lifetime beautiful experience.

In the next morning you can go to Kala Patthar and experience the stunning sunrise here.Spend some memorable time here and trek back to Gorak Shep.From here you need to trek till Pheriche.Where you need to stay overnight.
